Golkar Party leaders meeting this week have an important mission: selecting the voting mechanism that would decide the Banyan Tree party''''s candidate for the presidential elections in 2004. Akbar Tandjung, convicted for his role in the Bulog case, not expected to progress very far. Thus, several names have been mentioned to lead the party''''s campaign, including Surya Paloh and Nurcholish Madjid. Yet Golkar is equally divided over its candidates for the nation''''s top two seats. One camp prefers the party''''s annual convention scheduled for October to decide on two candidates. The other asks that five candidates be short-listed and screened, but would eventually decide on Tandjung. What will happen?
