Stepping Into The World: English For Self-Discovery and Cross-Cultural Understanding

This module presents the MAYOGA Camp, a six-day community engagement program initiated by the English Language Education Department at Universitas Islam Indonesia in collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology and Social-Cultural Sciences. Held in partnership with MAN 3 Sleman, the program addresses the ongoing challenges in English proficiency in Indonesia by promoting communicative competence, intercultural awareness, collaboration, and digital literacy. Grounded in Islamic values and local wisdom, the camp engaged over 140 students and 20 tutors in active, student-centered learning. This book compiles the core activities from the camp, serving as both a reflection and a practical resource for educators aiming to nurture globally-aware, communicatively competent, and value-driven learners.
