This book addresses a persistent gap in the professional literature available to English Language Teaching (ELT) practitioners in Indonesia and the broader Asian Pacific region: a comprehensive, theoretically grounded, and practically oriented reference for the development, evaluation, and adaptation of instructional media and materials. While a growing international literature addresses ELT materials development -- most notably the foundational volumes edited by Tomlinson (1998, 2011, 2013) and the curriculum development texts of Richards (2001) and Nation and Macalister (2010) -- these works are not always readily accessible to Indonesian practitioners and do not systematically address the specific contextual conditions, institutional realities, and learner populations of Indonesian ELT.
